What is The Best in the West?
The Annual Best in the West Drill and Blast Conference is an intensive three day event that brings together mining companies, drilling and blasting suppliers, and government agencies. The focus is innovation, safety, and government regulation.
The conference has grown over the past several years to include over 300 registrants along with 40 supplier booths. Many of these registrants are employed right here in the Powder River Basin, but don't be surprised to see some from another country.
Drill 9 holes of golf or
Blast 100 rounds of shells?
The conference includes several great fund raisers. The Bob Martin Memorial Golf Scramble is a nine hole four man scramble. Fun for any beginner as well as any seasoned golfer. The Paul Meuhl Memorial Clay shoot is another event. These events also have great door prizes and are a lot of fun.
If you wish to participate in either of these events you will need to contact the individuals listed below to get signed up. You won’t need to pay until the day of the event.

The revenue made from the conference goes to fund our aggressive scholarship programs. Currently the Best in the West Conference has provided students from a seven state area over $100,000 in scholarships over the past 19 years.
The highlight of the Best in the West conference is the scholarship benefit auction. All donations made that benefit the scholarship auction help tremendously in the effort of raising scholarship money. If you have an auction item of some value, you are more than welcome to donate it to the auction. This event is a good time had by all.
Various door prizes such as hats, shirts, etc..., are greatly appreciated as well. These items can have your company logo on them for additional market exposure. Typically, items with a value of less than $30 are given away as a door prize with donor being recognized.
We also have a federal tax ID number for those of you that need it. Just contact one of the board members from either chapter.
Thanks again and hope to see you there!!
